Tottenham sack Igor Tudor in damaging Premier League blow

Tottenham sack Igor Tudor after poor results leave club near relegation zone in a damaging Premier League setback

Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday confirmed the departure of head coach Igor Tudor by mutual consent after just seven matches in charge, as the club battles to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The decision, announced in a club statement, follows a poor run of results that has intensified pressure on Spurs, marking a significant moment in the Tottenham sack Igor Tudor development.

Tudor, appointed in February, lost five of his seven games, leaving the North London side hovering just one point above the relegation zone and effectively out of contention for European qualification.

“We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect,” the club said, while also expressing support following the recent death of his father.

The 47-year-old had been absent from media duties after last weekend’s heavy 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, a result that compounded Spurs’ struggles.

Tudor’s brief tenure followed the dismissal of Thomas Frank, who had overseen a sharp downturn in form despite a promising start to the campaign.

Tottenham’s season has been disrupted by injuries and inconsistency, with the team failing to secure a league victory since late December and exiting all domestic and European competitions.

The club’s recent history underscores the scale of the current crisis. Spurs lifted the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou to end a 17-year trophy drought, yet the Australian was dismissed after a disappointing league finish.

Now facing a precarious run-in, Tottenham have seven matches remaining to secure survival in what analysts describe as a seismic threat to one of England’s traditionally elite clubs.

Relegation would represent a dramatic fall for a side that reached the UEFA Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino in 2019 and remains among the world’s highest-earning clubs.

With fixtures looming after the international break, including a trip to Sunderland, attention now turns to who will take charge and whether Spurs can halt their alarming slide.

The Tottenham sack Igor Tudor episode reflects the mounting pressure within the club as it fights to preserve its top-flight status.
