Tinubu support rally gains momentum as Yari-backed group urges Nigerians to ignore opposition claims ahead of 2027 elections

The demonstration took place during the ongoing national convention of the All Progressives Congress, where party leaders, governors and delegates gathered to shape the party’s leadership structure and strategy.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the network’s technical committee, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, said the group’s presence was to celebrate the achievements of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reaffirm grassroots support for his administration.
Ogenyi urged Nigerians not to be swayed by what he described as propaganda and deliberate distortions from opposition figures, insisting that the administration’s reforms were already yielding tangible results.
“As the nation prepares for another election in 2027, we admonish Nigerians not to listen to lies, propaganda and deliberate distortions against the President or his government,” he said.
He argued that the Tinubu administration has demonstrated capacity and commitment to national development, citing improvements in economic indicators, education funding and security.
He also claimed that the government’s policies had reduced inflation, strengthened foreign reserves and addressed long-standing issues such as university strikes.
The Tinubu support rally also served as a platform to explain the growing influx of political figures into the ruling party.
Ogenyi attributed the trend to what he described as a redefinition of governance and party administration under Tinubu’s leadership.
He further alleged that opposition elements were engaging propagandists to discredit the administration but maintained that public support for the government remained strong.
Meanwhile, the APC convention has drawn 31 governors, party leaders and over 8,000 delegates, who are expected to ratify members of the party’s National Working Committee, a critical organ responsible for its operations ahead of future elections.

The rally underscores intensifying political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls, as competing narratives over governance and reform continue to shape Nigeria’s political landscape.
