Omotola Jalade Ekeinde feud rumours are dismissed as the Nollywood star says she and Genevieve Nnaji were never enemies

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has dismissed long-standing rumours of a feud with fellow screen icon Genevieve Nnaji, saying claims of hostility between both women were largely fabricated by fans and media narratives.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde made the remarks during an interview on Yanga FM, in a clip shared on Instagram on Wednesday.

Addressing years of speculation about rivalry at the height of their careers, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde said competition narratives were imposed on both actresses despite the absence of personal conflict.

The actress explained that industry comparisons often fuelled unnecessary tension, particularly during a period when Nollywood was still defining its star hierarchy.

Using a mix of English and Pidgin, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde said fans effectively created a quarrel that did not exist, likening the situation to modern celebrity rivalries in the music industry.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde said both actresses maintained cordial communication behind the scenes, even as public perception suggested otherwise.

When asked whether any prolonged disagreement existed before their collaboration in the film *EJ*, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde said there was never a falling out to resolve.

She said professional ambition and public comparison were misinterpreted as personal animosity, describing the tension as normal industry pressure rather than conflict.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde added that her personality made sustained disputes unlikely, noting that both actresses were not constantly present in the same spaces for disagreements to develop.

The comments offer a candid and clarifying account of one of Nollywood’s most enduring rumours, underscoring how public narratives can outgrow private realities in the entertainment industry.
