Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa backs the Renewed Hope Initiative, urging state governments to support Oluremi Tinubu’s programmes for women and youths

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Obasa, has urged state governments across Nigeria to support the Renewed Hope Initiative led by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing the programme as a transformative force for vulnerable women and youths.

Mudashiru Obasa made the call while speaking to State House correspondents after a courtesy visit to the First Lady at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.

“State governments must seize the momentum created by the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative to drive lasting and sustainable development for our people,” the Speaker said.

Obasa noted that the initiative has already begun delivering tangible benefits in critical sectors, including education, healthcare and economic empowerment.

He explained that stronger collaboration between federal and state governments would significantly expand the reach of the programmes and amplify their impact across communities.

The Speaker commended Oluremi Tinubu’s leadership and commitment, describing her interventions as timely and impactful, particularly for disadvantaged groups who often face barriers to opportunity.

According to him, the grassroots focus of the Renewed Hope Initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader national agenda aimed at inclusive growth and poverty reduction.

Mudashiru Obasa also revealed that the visit to the Presidential Villa was partly to extend goodwill to the First Lady during the overlapping observances of Ramadan and Lent.

He stressed that the season provides an important opportunity for reflection, unity and shared values among Nigerians of different faiths.

Launched by Oluremi Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Initiative has gained recognition for programmes designed to address everyday challenges faced by women and youths.

These interventions include vocational training schemes, financial support programmes, health outreach and expanded educational opportunities.
