The Flour Mills of Nigeria Women Network (FMNWN) held a nationwide breast cancer awareness walk on Monday, 12 October 2026, across the company’s sites in Nigeria, bringing together female employees known as the “Amazing Amazons” to promote early detection, regular breast checks and support for people affected by the disease during Pink October.
Participants gathered at designated locations across the company’s operations, dressed in pink to demonstrate solidarity with the global campaign against breast cancer.

The initiative sought to encourage women to take their breast health seriously, recognise unusual changes early and seek timely medical advice.
The walk also provided an opportunity to reinforce the importance of routine screening and awareness, particularly as breast cancer continues to pose a significant health challenge for women worldwide.

By taking the campaign into its workplaces, FMN Women Network sought to make conversations about breast health more visible and accessible to employees.
Beyond raising awareness, the initiative highlighted the importance of supporting people through diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Organisers emphasised that compassion and understanding are essential in creating an environment where patients and survivors feel supported rather than isolated.
The participation of women across FMN sites reflected a collective commitment to workplace health education and wellbeing.

Through the campaign, employees were encouraged to share knowledge about breast cancer and help promote a culture in which seeking medical attention is treated as a proactive step towards protecting one’s health.
Established in 2019, the FMN Women Network focuses on advancing women’s development, inclusion and wellbeing within Flour Mills of Nigeria.
Its activities span initiatives intended to support women’s professional growth and personal development across the organisation.
The awareness walk forms part of the wider Pink October campaign, observed internationally to raise awareness of breast cancer, encourage early detection and promote support for affected individuals and their families.

Although awareness initiatives can help encourage earlier medical consultation, breast cancer outcomes also depend on access to appropriate screening, accurate diagnosis and timely treatment.
Public education therefore remains an important part of broader efforts to reduce the impact of the disease.
Through the nationwide walk, FMN Women Network reaffirmed its commitment to promoting health education and a supportive workplace culture.
