Netflix has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, marking a major expansion of the streaming platform’s live sports coverage ahead of the tournament’s centenary celebration.
The company announced the agreement on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, confirming that subscribers in both countries will be able to watch all 104 matches of the competition live on the platform.

The tournament will be co-hosted by Spain, Morocco and Portugal, with additional centenary matches scheduled in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The agreement represents Netflix’s first major broadcasting deal for a men’s FIFA World Cup in Spain, strengthening its position in the competitive live sports market.
Under the arrangement, Netflix will provide coverage of every match, supported by pre-match analysis, half-time programmes, post-match discussions and daily highlights on matchdays.
The company said the programming would offer a distinctly Spanish perspective for viewers in Spain and Andorra.
Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria said the World Cup had a unique ability to bring people together and create memories that endure across generations.
“Few events unite people like the World Cup,” Bajaria said.
She added that Netflix was delighted to bring every match to fans in Spain and Andorra as Spain prepares to welcome the world as one of the tournament’s host nations.
Despite Netflix’s exclusive streaming rights, some matches will remain accessible through free-to-air television in Spain.
The agreement provides for one free match on each matchday, while a national broadcaster will be offered rights to show every match involving Spain, both semi-finals and the final.
The arrangement is intended to preserve broad public access to key fixtures, although details of the partnership with the free-to-air broadcaster have yet to be announced.
FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafström welcomed the agreement, describing the 2030 competition as a special edition of the tournament.
“We are pleased to build on our partnership with Netflix as we look ahead to the FIFA World Cup 2030,” Grafström said.
He added that both organisations wanted to bring supporters closer to the game and enable as many people as possible to share in the excitement of the competition.
The 2030 World Cup will mark 100 years since the inaugural tournament was held in Uruguay in 1930.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the main competition, while Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will stage special centenary fixtures as part of the celebrations.
The expanded tournament will feature 48 national teams competing across 104 matches, continuing the format introduced for the 2026 World Cup.
The inclusion of matches across six countries and three continents will give the centenary edition a distinctive international character.
Netflix’s latest acquisition also builds on its growing relationship with FIFA.
The streaming company has secured rights to the 2027 and 2031 editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the United States and Canada, extending its involvement in international football beyond the men’s competition.
The company has also invested in other live sporting events, including boxing and American football, as streaming platforms increasingly compete with traditional broadcasters for major sporting audiences.
Financial details of the 2030 World Cup agreement have not been disclosed.
However, securing the rights to all 104 matches gives Netflix a significant opportunity to attract football supporters and strengthen its live-event offering in Spain and Andorra.

For viewers, the deal promises comprehensive live coverage of one of football’s biggest competitions, while the free-to-air provisions will ensure that selected matches remain available to audiences who do not subscribe to the streaming service.
