The Bigi Music Competition, which offered a ₦1 million prize and a platform for emerging student artistes, concluded with Oladapo Taiwo Opeyemi taking the top position after a closely contested final that highlighted the depth of talent within the institution.

Iheanacho Favour Emeka finished as first runner-up, while Anikene Victor Chidera secured third place, completing a competitive showcase that reflected a range of musical styles and stage performances from young creatives.
Speaking after the announcement, Opeyemi expressed excitement at the recognition, marking a defining moment in what organisers described as a platform designed to elevate youth talent beyond the campus environment.
The Fearless Dance Challenge also added a dynamic layer to the event, with students delivering energetic performances marked by creativity, rhythm and self-expression, drawing loud cheers from the audience and sustaining the festive atmosphere across the campus grounds.

The entertainment lineup continued with performances from artistes including Modola, Táríq, Syemca, Slimcase, Mr P, Kodee, Duuwa and Rukmani, all of whom contributed to a concert experience that kept students engaged from start to finish.
The show created a festival-like environment on campus, with music and dance blending into a broader celebration of youth culture, creativity and community expression.
Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, said the initiative reflects the brand’s commitment to supporting young Nigerians through creative platforms that enable talent discovery and expression.
“Young people are not waiting for culture to happen; they are creating it every day,” Ekuma Eze said.
“Through the Bigi and Fearless brands, we want to meet them where that creativity is most visible and give them platforms where they can express themselves, discover their capabilities and connect with opportunities beyond the immediate moment.”

Beyond entertainment, the YABATECH edition of Soundcity OnTour was designed as a youth engagement platform aimed at connecting creativity with opportunity, while encouraging self-expression through structured competitions and live showcases.
As the event drew to a close, the campus atmosphere reflected a mix of excitement and pride, with students celebrating both the winners and the shared experience of a high-energy cultural activation.

For Opeyemi, Favour and Chidera, the competition provided a breakthrough moment on a larger stage, while for thousands of students, it reinforced YABATECH’s reputation as a hub of youthful creativity and performance energy.
