Timi Frank alleges Tinubu plans Lagos capital move

Tinubu Lagos capital relocation claim sparks debate as Timi Frank alleges plan to move Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, on Monday, March 23, 2026, alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if re-elected in 2027.

Timi Frank made the claim in a statement where he criticised what he described as a Lagos-centric agenda by the current administration.

He argued that recent policy decisions and developments under the President suggest a pattern of concentrating political and economic power in Lagos State.

According to him, the Tinubu Lagos capital relocation claim reflects a broader strategy to sideline other regions of the country.

Timi Frank further alleged that federal appointments and development initiatives have been uneven, warning that such an approach could undermine national unity.

He questioned the distribution of government projects across regions, citing what he described as a lack of visible investments in agriculture in the North, industrial growth in the South-East and oil and gas development in the South-South.

The former APC chieftain also claimed that the administration’s policies have deepened regional divisions, creating a growing sense of alienation among Nigerians.

He warned that the perceived imbalance could weaken economic opportunities in certain regions ahead of the 2027 election cycle.

The allegations have not been officially addressed by the Presidency as of the time of filing this report.
