Tinubu is scheduled to perform Umrah, also known as the lesser hajj, and is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the religious exercise.
The visit marks the second time the President has travelled to Makkah to perform Umrah since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
Tinubu previously visited the holy city in November 2023, shortly after attending the Saudi-African Summit in Riyadh. During that visit, he also offered prayers for divine guidance in leading Nigeria.
The latest journey forms part of the President’s foreign engagements since taking office, which have included visits to more than 30 countries through over 50 trips, according to the report.
