The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with strong expertise in digital systems, examination technology, and institutional reform.

The Presidency described him as a highly accomplished academic with over 15 years of experience advising government agencies on digital transformation and examination system improvements.

Aina is expected to officially assume office on July 31, 2026, when the tenure of the outgoing Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, comes to an end.
