Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Emmanuel Chukuemeka Ejekiru, popularly known as “Sabinus” and “Mr Funny”, is set to lead the cast in Moses Inwang’s film titled Dead Serious.

The social media sensation, who is known for his hilarious depiction of Sabinus, a character whose actions usually get him into trouble, features alongside other comic personalities, Lawal Nasiru (Nasboi), Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), Albert Oluwatoyin (Tomama/Datwarrigirl).

The forthcoming film also stars Sharon Ooja who, as revealed in the trailer, plays a lead role as Sabinus’s love interest, Lilian Afegbai, Funky Mallam and Deyemi Okanlawon.

Sabinus has been previously featured in Nollywood films such as Man of War and A Bag of Trouble. He released his first feature-length film, Sabinus (The Best Man), in the cinemas in December, 2023, a film with a cast list that includes Lasisi Elenu, Tobi Bakre, Gregory Ojefua, Osita Iheme and Afeez Oyetoro.

The film is produced by David Rukeme while award-winning filmmaker Moses Inwang (director of Alter Ego, Blood Vessel, Merry Men 2 & 3) is both the story creator and director. In 2019, Merry Men 2 amassed 240 million naira in the box office to become Nollywood’s highest grossing film for the year.
