Rite Foods Limited has been recognised among Nigeria’s Top 50 Companies of Impact for 2026 at The Industry Newspaper’s annual ranking, highlighting the indigenous food and beverage company’s contribution to innovation, sustainability, employment and community development.

The recognition forms part of the fourth edition of The Industry Newspaper’s Top 50 Nigerian Companies of Impact, which was organised under the theme, “Building Resilience, Driving Growth: Nigerian Companies Shaping the Next Decade.”

The ranking covers organisations across sectors including manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods, banking, energy, technology, healthcare and logistics.

More than 300 nominations were assessed using eight criteria, including financial performance, job creation, innovation, corporate governance, customer impact, sustainability, local content and contribution to national development.

For Rite Foods, the recognition reflects a business strategy that combines consumer-focused product development with investment in manufacturing infrastructure, technology and sustainability.

Goddie Ofose, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of The Industry Newspaper, said the recognition was intended to highlight companies whose activities create tangible economic, social and environmental value.

“The Top 50 Companies of Impact recognition is designed to celebrate organisations whose activities demonstrate tangible economic, social, and environmental value,” Ofose said.

He specifically pointed to Rite Foods’ environmental programmes, including the Waste-Is-Naira initiative and Riteonthebeach project, as examples of efforts extending sustainability beyond the company’s internal operations.

Rite Foods launched Waste-Is-Naira in partnership with RecyclePoints in March 2026 as a community-based recycling programme designed to turn post-consumer plastic waste into an income opportunity.

The initiative is projected to facilitate the recovery of more than 750 tonnes of plastic waste annually.

The programme allows participants to collect used plastic bottles and beverage cans, which are taken to designated collection points, weighed and recorded before payments are processed.

The approach links environmental responsibility with grassroots economic activity.

The Industry Newspaper also highlighted Rite Foods’ energy strategy, citing information that 95 per cent of the company’s energy consumption comes from natural gas and solar power, while diesel accounts for about five per cent.

The recognition comes as Nigerian manufacturers continue to navigate inflation, elevated operating costs and other economic pressures.

The Industry Newspaper said its 2026 ranking sought to acknowledge businesses that continued investing in people, infrastructure, innovation and communities despite those challenges.

Rite Foods’ portfolio includes Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drinks, Fearless Energy Drink, Rite Spicy Beef Sausage, Bigi Beef Sausage and Bigi Flex Sausage.

Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods, said the recognition reflected the company’s effort to create value beyond its commercial activities.

“This honour is a reflection of the impact we are creating across multiple areas, from innovation and human capital development to community engagement, sustainability and support for initiatives that contribute to national development,” Eze said.

Eze added that innovation remains central to the company’s strategy, particularly as consumer preferences continue to evolve.

“For us, innovation is not simply about introducing new products. It is about understanding consumers, investing in people and technology, improving our processes, and creating products and solutions that deliver value,” he said.

The latest honour adds to a growing list of recognitions for Rite Foods’ business and sustainability initiatives.

Its environmental work has increasingly become a visible part of the company’s corporate profile, particularly through coastal clean-up activities and the newer Waste-Is-Naira programme.

The broader Top 50 ranking also included prominent Nigerian organisations such as Dangote Industries, BUA Foods, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, Seplat Energy, Channels Television and Red Star.

The recognition therefore places Rite Foods among a diverse group of Nigerian companies being assessed not simply by commercial scale, but by their contribution to the country’s longer-term economic and social development.
