PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has reported a strong first-quarter performance, with operating profit rising to N8.54 billion in the three months ended August 31, 2026, as the consumer goods company strengthened its margins and delivered higher revenue.
The company’s unaudited results for the first quarter of its 2027 financial year showed that operating profit increased from N5.85 billion recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year, representing a significant improvement in underlying performance.

Organic operating profit also grew by 39 per cent during the period, reflecting the company’s continued focus on revenue growth, pricing and operational efficiency.
Gross profit rose to N19.78 billion from N15.90 billion a year earlier, while cost of sales stood at N45.06 billion.
The improvement in gross profit lifted the company’s gross margin to approximately 30.5 per cent, compared with 26.9 per cent in the corresponding period last year. Revenue also increased by about 10 per cent.
PZ Cussons Nigeria reported profit before tax of N9.09 billion, while profit after tax stood at N4.63 billion.
The company said the decline in profit after tax compared with the previous year was largely due to non-recurring gains recorded in the comparative period.
According to the results, non-recurring gains stood at N15.74 billion in the comparable period, compared with N0.51 billion in the latest quarter.
Commenting on the performance, the company secretary, Oghenekevwe Ogefere, attributed the results to a favourable combination of volume and pricing, alongside the strength of the Group’s brands across their respective categories.
She said the performance reflected the company’s continued focus on sustainable revenue growth, operational efficiency and strengthening the underlying performance of the business.
Ogefere added that PZ Cussons Nigeria would continue to focus on sustaining revenue growth, improving operating performance and creating long-term value for stakeholders.
The latest results build on the company’s performance for the financial year ended May 31, 2026, when it recorded revenue of N260.46 billion, representing a 22 per cent increase from N212.63 billion in the previous year.
Full-year operating profit stood at N77.1 billion, supported by organic business performance, currency gains and proceeds from the sale of non-core assets.
The first-quarter performance comes against a challenging operating environment for Nigerian consumer goods manufacturers, who continue to contend with elevated production costs, currency pressures and changing consumer purchasing patterns.

Despite these pressures, PZ Cussons said the resilience of its brands across key markets and product categories continues to support the underlying performance of the business.
