The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the dismissal of three senior police officers over serious misconduct and conduct unbecoming of members of the Nigeria Police Force.
The commission also demoted 16 officers and issued severe reprimands to 21 others, while two officers received ordinary reprimands.
PSC Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Kalu, announced the decisions in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said the sanctions were approved at the commission’s plenary meeting presided over by its Chairman, Hashimu Argungu.
Three officers were exonerated of wrongdoing, while some previously suspended officers were reinstated into the force.
Argungu reaffirmed the commission’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, human rights abuses, interference in land and civil matters, and other acts of misconduct.
He assured the public of the commission’s commitment to the speedy resolution of disciplinary cases.
