Carbon monoxide exposure at Solid Mining Company in Plateau State kills 37 miners and hospitalizes 25. No official government response yet
At least 37 miners have died, and 25 others are hospitalized following exposure to poisonous carbon monoxide gas at a mining site in Zurak Wase Local Government, Plateau State.

The incident occurred at the Solid Mining Company early on February 18, according to security journalist Zagazola Makama.
The victims, aged between 20 and 35, were carrying out routine mining operations when toxic gas accumulated in poorly ventilated tunnels.
A source told Makama that the site is under strict control and emergency protocols are being implemented to manage the situation.

As of the report on Wednesday, neither the Nigerian government nor Plateau State authorities have issued official statements or confirmed the incident. Security operatives are yet to publicly respond to the tragedy.
