Peter Obi Kwara massacre statement: former Labour Party candidate mourns 150 victims and urges authorities to act decisively against insecurity
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed deep sorrow over the recent killing of over 150 people in Kwara State, describing the attacks as a national tragedy requiring urgent intervention.

In a statement shared on his verified X handle on Thursday, Obi condemned the violence in villages including Woro and Nuku, calling for immediate action to tackle the wave of insecurity plaguing Nigeria.
“I am deeply saddened by the recent attacks in Kwara State, where gunmen reportedly killed about 150 people,” Obi wrote.
“Every loss of innocent life is tragic, and these killings represent a major failure for us as a nation. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims, the affected communities, and the government and people of Kwara State.”
Obi described the scale of violence as comparable to conflict zones, stressing the urgent need to “declare war on insecurity of lives and property” and to deploy every possible measure to restore safety.
He further urged authorities to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators and reassure residents of Kwara and all Nigerians that their lives remain a priority and must be protected.
