The incident, which took place in front of students, has sparked outrage online, particularly after a video of the altercation was shared on social media.
Alex Onyia, a user on X (formerly Twitter), posted the video with the caption: “This is a video of a parent at Rosebud School Idimu, Lagos, beating up a teacher in front of students and even threatening to beat up the school owner.”
Onyia further condemned the act, expressing concern for the treatment of teachers in Nigeria, especially given the financial struggles many face.
He called for the authorities to take action, stating, “Police over to you!”
The video has since gone viral, drawing attention to the growing issue of violence against teachers in Nigeria.
In the footage, the parent can be seen not only physically assaulting the teacher but also issuing threats to the school’s owner.
Social media users have rallied in support of the teacher, demanding that the authorities step in to ensure justice is served.
Many expressed concern that teachers, who already earn low wages, are often subjected to unfair treatment and abuse from parents.
