The movement’s director, Olufemi Onireti, says members must support all APC candidates rather than promote opposition politicians while claiming loyalty to the ruling party.

2027: Oyo City Boy Movement warns members against backing opposition

The Oyo State City Boy Movement has warned members against supporting opposition candidates while claiming allegiance to the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement’s director, Olufemi Onireti, gave the warning in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday, reaffirming the group’s commitment to the APC and all its candidates.

Onireti said the movement’s support for the party was not selective and extended to candidates contesting presidential, governorship and other elective positions.

“We are unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates. Our loyalty is not selective, and we will not support one candidate while abandoning another. We stand firmly with the party at the presidential, governorship and other elective levels,” he said.

The movement expressed concern over the activities of political groups that claim affiliation with the APC but openly promote candidates from rival parties.

According to Onireti, such conduct raises questions about the sincerity of their commitment to the ruling party.

“Political loyalty must be consistent. You cannot claim to be committed to the APC while simultaneously promoting candidates of other political parties based on personal interests or political calculations. Such actions raise serious questions about the sincerity of your allegiance to the party,” he stated.

He said the Oyo City Boy Movement would not compromise its principles through selective political support or participate in arrangements it considers detrimental to the APC’s interests.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo City Boy Movement stands firmly with the APC and all its candidates. We will not be part of any arrangement that undermines the party’s interests or promotes candidates from opposing political parties while claiming to represent the APC. Our loyalty is to the party, and our support extends to all its candidates,” Onireti added.

The director also thanked participants at the movement’s inaugural event held the previous week.

He specifically acknowledged the support of Oyo State APC Chairman Moses Adeyemo and the party’s state Women Leader, Felicia Opatunde, who attended the event.

Onireti also commended the movement’s executives and members across the state’s zones for their contributions to the gathering.

The movement urged APC stakeholders and members of the public to distinguish between groups genuinely committed to the party and those it described as having divided political loyalties.

It called on APC-affiliated groups to demonstrate consistency, discipline and unity as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
