TCN announces four-day power outage in Ondo

TCN schedules Feb 2–5 Ondo power outage for Ife/Ondo substation maintenance, affecting BEDC supply

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled a four-day preventive maintenance exercise at the Ife/Ondo 330/132kV and 132/33kV Transmission Substation, set to take place from Monday, 2 February to Thursday, 5 February 2026.

The maintenance will be conducted daily between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., according to a statement released on X by TCN.

The exercise will involve decommissioning an old wave trap, installing a new one, and replacing single-circuit towers on the 132/33kV line with modern double-circuit towers.

TCN warned that bulk electricity supply to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) would be interrupted, affecting Okitipupa, Ondo, and surrounding areas throughout the maintenance period.

The company expressed regret for any inconvenience this planned outage may cause, assuring residents that supply would be promptly restored after the exercise.

TCN emphasised that the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national transmission grid and improve the reliability of electricity delivery in the region.
