The crash occurred at about 4:45 pm near a section of the road undergoing rehabilitation, leading to a temporary diversion and heavy congestion along the axis.
According to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the pedestrian allegedly attempted to cross the road without properly checking for oncoming traffic.
He explained that the impact of the collision led to a complete obstruction of the roadway, forcing traffic officials and police officers from the Obalende Division to intervene swiftly.
TRACE operatives were deployed alongside police personnel to manage the scene and prevent further incidents as vehicles built up along the corridor.
“The pedestrian forgot to check the other side of the road before crossing,” Akinbiyi said, adding that road rehabilitation work had reduced the carriageway to a single lane.
No other casualties were recorded in the crash aside from the deceased male pedestrian.
Emergency responders reportedly assisted in evacuating the victim, who was later conveyed to the General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode.
The Toyota Coaster bus involved in the accident was removed from the scene and taken to the Police Area Command in Igbeba for further investigation.
Authorities confirmed that normal traffic flow was restored after clearance operations were completed.
