According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister was received on arrival by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Zayyanu Ibrahim, alongside officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration who had arrived earlier.

During the summit, Wike is scheduled to lead a discussion panel where he will field questions about the Federal Capital Territory’s development agenda and engage with mayors of other global capital cities.

The 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit, known as 2025APCS, is regarded as one of the world’s leading gatherings of mayors, city leaders, business executives and urban development experts.

The summit aims to strengthen cooperation between cities and drive sustainable growth across regions including Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Organised by the Brisbane City Council in Australia, this year’s theme — “Collaborate, Inspire, Transform” — highlights innovation and cross-border partnerships in urban governance.

Sub-themes such as “Centres of Connection” will explore how cities can use transport and technology to enhance connectivity and quality of life.

Nyesom Wike’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to international collaboration on urban transformation and infrastructure reform, especially as Abuja continues to expand its development blueprint.

The summit is expected to deliver long-term value for cities and businesses seeking trade and investment opportunities, as well as a platform for sharing successful models of city management.
