The Agbo Major-led faction of NNPP urges INEC to implement FCT High Court ruling recognising its National Working Committee, criticising delays and reaffirming participation in the 2027 elections
A faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to swiftly implement the Federal Capital Territory High Court order recognising the Agbo Major-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Justice Bello Kawu of the FCT High Court on Tuesday, March 17, directed INEC to immediately recognise the Major-led NWC and update its records within 72 hours.
The court also restrained INEC from engaging with the Dr. Ahmed Ajuji-led NWC of the Kwankwasiya Movement, pending the outcome of a judicial review.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, NNPP National Secretary Ogini Olaposi criticised INEC for receiving correspondence from the Ajuji-led group despite the valid court order.
He stressed that notices of appeal or motions for stay do not impede the execution of lawful court orders unless explicitly granted and served.
“The order of Justice Bello Kawu is specific, direct, positive and compelling that INEC should within 72 hours update and recognise the Major-led NWC and revert to the original logo of the NNPP,” Olaposi said.
The party urged members to remain calm and continue its nationwide membership drive, reaffirming its readiness to participate fully in the 2027 general elections.
It also reiterated that expelled members for anti-party activities remain excluded, while those who had defected to other parties would be welcomed back.

“With our victory in court, the sky is now our limit. We will ensure the NNPP thrives in the upcoming elections and other off-cycle contests nationwide,” the statement added.
