MultiChoice revamps DStv, GOtv packages in Nigeria

New subscription tiers launch on 5 November, with expanded football access, refreshed movie channels and revised entertainment options.

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a major restructuring of its DStv and GOtv subscription packages, introducing new viewing options from 5 November 2026 as the pay-TV operator seeks to simplify its offerings and respond to changing customer preferences.

The revamped line-up introduces four DStv tiers, Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate, alongside four GOtv options, Easy, Starter, Select and Sports.

The company says the changes will give subscribers clearer choices across entertainment, family programming and live sports.

Kemi Omotosho, chief executive officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, said the new structure reflected evolving viewing habits and the company’s commitment to improving the value subscribers receive.

“Our focus is on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love,” Omotosho said.

She added that MultiChoice’s appeal lay in its combination of African storytelling, international productions and live sports, with the revised packages designed to serve both general entertainment viewers and dedicated sports fans.

Under the announced Nigerian pricing, DStv Starter will cost ₦6,000 monthly and include SuperSport KICKOFF, which will carry the Premier League Match of the Week and selected UEFA Champions League fixtures.

The package will also feature Africa Magic+, expanding access to local and international entertainment.

DStv Select, priced at ₦11,000, will target households seeking a broader mix of family programming.

Its offering includes films, local and international series, children’s channels and selected sporting events.

Sports enthusiasts will be catered for through DStv Sports, listed at ₦21,000 monthly in the announcement.

The package will provide every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, alongside WWE and UFC programming.

It will also retain the general entertainment content available on Select.

At the top end, DStv Ultimate will combine the Sports package with additional premium competitions, including Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis tournaments and major golf championships.

Subscribers will also have access to international series on M-Net.

MultiChoice is also refreshing its film offering with M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends.

The company says the channels will deliver more blockbuster films, quicker access to new releases and fewer repeats, giving movie enthusiasts a broader selection.

The package changes extend to GOtv, where subscribers will be able to choose from Easy, Starter, Select and Sports.

MultiChoice says the revised structure is intended to make package selection more straightforward while giving customers options suited to their entertainment interests and budgets.

Premium

Tope Oshunkeye, senior vice-president of communications at MultiChoice Nigeria, said the new packages were designed to deliver more content and choice across different subscription levels.

The approach, he explained, would allow customers to select options ranging from entry-level entertainment to broader packages featuring sports, films and series.

The restructuring comes as MultiChoice continues its integration into the CANAL+ Group. Omotosho said the development presented opportunities to draw on global expertise in content, technology and operational practices as the company adapts to audiences increasingly watching programmes on television sets, smartphones, tablets and computers.

Alongside the package changes, MultiChoice is promoting a hardware offer for new customers.

Under the offer outlined in the announcement, customers can purchase a decoder, a full installation kit and a one-month entry-level subscription for ₦15,000.

Viewers can also access DStv content through the DStv Stream application as a standalone service, with subscriptions starting at ₦6,000, providing an alternative for customers who prefer to watch through connected devices.

The company has positioned the changes as part of a broader effort to make its services more customer-focused across African markets.

Last one

However, the practical value for individual subscribers will depend on the channels they watch, the sports they follow and how the new packages compare with their existing subscriptions.

For football fans, the availability of selected fixtures on Starter and every Premier League and Champions League match on Sports creates a clear distinction between the tiers.

Families and film enthusiasts, meanwhile, may place greater importance on the entertainment channels included in Select and Ultimate.

The new line-up represents a significant shift in how MultiChoice presents its Nigerian pay-TV services.

Its success will ultimately depend on whether the revised choices and content offerings meet subscribers’ expectations on affordability, access and viewing experience.
