Real Madrid returned to the top of La Liga on Saturday night as Kylian Mbappé’s ruthless finishing inspired a composed 2-0 victory over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

The result lifts Real Madrid above Barcelona at the summit of La Liga, pending the outcome of Barcelona’s fixture on Sunday.
