An unidentified man has been found dead inside an uncompleted building in the Albishiri area of Chanchaga Local Government Area, Niger State, with police authorities beginning investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Residents discovered the body hanging inside the unfinished structure on Thursday morning, according to community leader Dangana Abubakar, who said the discovery had caused concern among people living in the area.

Dangana said the incident was the second time a dead body had been found in an uncompleted building within the community, while appealing to residents to remain calm as authorities work to establish what happened.

Confirming the incident, the Niger State Police Command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the police received information about the discovery at about 7am on Thursday.

SP Abiodun said preliminary observations suggested that the incident may have been a suicide case, although investigations were still ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.

“Meanwhile, the Chanchaga Local Government Social Welfare Department has been contacted for necessary action, while further investigation is ongoing,” the police spokesperson said.

The identity of the deceased has not been established, and authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations progress.

The police have urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist investigators while efforts continue to clarify the events leading to the man’s death.
