The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority confirmed that its officials responded swiftly to the Lagos tanker crash, securing the area to prevent further accidents on the busy route.

According to the agency, the HOWO tanker, marked RBC 38 XF, rammed into the motorcycle while in motion, trapping the rider beneath the vehicle. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.

Officials immediately cordoned off the crash site using safety cones and caution tape to manage traffic and avert secondary collisions.

The tanker was impounded by authorities, while the driver reportedly absconded after realising the severity of the incident.

The victim’s body was subsequently recovered and moved to a morgue in Yaba.

Reacting to the fatal incident, LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki described the development as distressing and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
