Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, swiftly deployed operational teams and detectives to the location.

The injured victim, Shehu Muhammad, was immediately rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, he was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel.

One of the alleged perpetrators, identified as Aliyu Umar, was apprehended at the crime scene by the responding police units. Authorities also recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the deadly attack from the suspect.

“We will not rest until every criminal element is brought to justice. This arrest is a strong signal to others who think they can terrorize innocent citizens,” stated CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command.

The arrested suspect is currently in police custody and is actively assisting with the ongoing investigation. The Kano State Police Command has stated that the suspect will face charges in a court of law upon the conclusion of the investigation.

In his statement, CP Bakori affirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime in the state. “We will not rest until every criminal element is brought to justice,” he declared.

“This arrest is a strong signal to others who think they can terrorize innocent citizens.”

SP Kiyawa also commended the prompt action of the community in reporting the incident. “The community’s timely report was critical in apprehending the suspect,” he acknowledged.

“We urge residents to continue working with us to ensure a safer Kano.”
