The inferno reportedly started around 5:40am on Friday, barely one week after a major fire incident affected more than 1,000 traders at Singer Market in the state.
Chairman of the market’s fire committee, Dauda Haruna Chula, said the affected shops were mainly small-scale businesses involved in oil production and the recycling of plastics and nylon.
“From the preliminary what we have seen, about 50 shops are already down and the fire is still ongoing. We are still expecting the Kano State Fire Service personnel,” he stated.
Chula added that efforts were made to alert the fire service and other relevant agencies, which confirmed they were aware of the incident.
