Kaduna night attack leaves three dead

Kaduna night attack leaves three dead and three abducted as bandits strike Bundu Kahugu, prompting urgent calls for stronger security and better network coverage

Suspected bandits killed three residents and abducted three others during a late-night raid on Bundu Kahugu community, throwing the area into mourning and renewing urgent calls for stronger security deployment.

The attack occurred at about 11pm on Monday when gunmen stormed the village under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.

The National Secretary of the Bundu Kahugu community, Ishaya Dauda, confirmed the incident on Tuesday and described the assault as the second deadly attack on the village within two weeks.

“The attackers came late at night and began shooting. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away. This is the second attack on our community in less than two weeks,” Ishaya Dauda said.

The victims were identified as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu and Ezra Namata.

Residents said a similar attack earlier this month claimed four lives, raising fears that the community has become a repeated target for armed groups operating in the area.

Community leaders appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to deploy military personnel to protect the area and prevent further violence.

Residents also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage, saying poor connectivity allows attackers to operate without resistance or timely alerts to security agencies.

“We are pleading with the government to help us. The poor network here is aiding the attackers. We need security presence and improved communication facilities to save our people,” Ishaya Dauda said.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had not responded to requests for comment.

The Kaduna night attack has intensified anxiety across nearby communities, as residents fear further raids unless decisive action is taken to restore safety and stability in the area.
