Speaking to reporters, Lande said the assault occurred just six days after his return.
They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200.
I nearly lost my life, he said, describing the attack as both traumatic and life-threatening.
Lande alleges that the officers involved used excessive force, highlighting concerns over police conduct and accountability in Nigeria.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with human rights groups demanding an immediate investigation and justice for the victim.
The Lagos State Police Command has not yet released a statement regarding the claims.
Legal experts warn that such allegations could intensify scrutiny of law enforcement practices, particularly for citizens returning from abroad.
Civil society organisations have called for transparency, protection of human rights, and measures to prevent the escalation of online disputes into real-world violence.
