A woman in Igando collapsed from hunger; tests reveal she is pregnant with her fourth child amid financial difficulties, while donations have paused

A young woman in Igando, Lagos State, who recently collapsed from hunger, has been found to be pregnant with her fourth child, sources close to the family have confirmed. The mother is also caring for a seven-month-old baby.

The incident occurred after the woman was seen begging for food, highlighting her family’s financial distress.

She collapsed in public, leaving her infant temporarily stranded, before being revived and rushed to a hospital in Alimosho for medical attention.

According to sources, donations previously sent to the family have been exhausted by her husband, and as a result, support has temporarily stopped.

The woman’s two older children are staying with her mother in their village while she recovers in Lagos.

Community members and local welfare groups have expressed concern, emphasising the urgent need for sustained support to vulnerable families facing compounded economic and health challenges.
