ICPC Begins N21.6bn Project Tracking

ICPC begins tracking 64 federal projects worth N21.6bn in Sokoto under Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking programme

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced tracking 64 executive and constituency projects valued at about N21.6 billion in Sokoto State.

The exercise is part of Phase 8 of the Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking (CEPT) programme, currently ongoing nationwide.

Team Leader Aminu Bala disclosed that projects across health, education, water supply, agriculture, special intervention, and electrification sectors would be inspected.

According to Bala, the team has already identified irregularities in some projects located in Kalambaina and Gwuiwa (Wamakko LGA), as well as Mabera and Mana (Sokoto South LGA). Some projects reportedly failed to meet contract specifications, prompting directives for contractors to return to site and rectify deficiencies.

Affected projects include a science laboratory at Senior Secondary School, Kalambaina, and water schemes in the listed communities.

The 64 projects were awarded under 14 Federal Government agencies and are expected to have been fully executed.

The monitoring team comprises ICPC officials, members of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors, civil society organisations, and the media.

The commission stated that the exercise aims to assess project performance, value for money, contractor compliance, payment details, and overall community impact.
