GTBank has been named Nigeria’s Best Digital Bank at the 2026 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, reaffirming its digital banking leadership

Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd, trading as GTBank and the flagship banking subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, has been named Nigeria’s Best Digital Bank at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026.

The announcement was made in London on Friday, July 17, 2026, at a ceremony held at The Peninsula London.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence, organised annually and running for more than three decades, honour financial institutions that demonstrate outstanding performance, innovation and leadership across global markets. This year’s ceremony brought together senior bankers, executives and policymakers from across the world to celebrate excellence in the sector.

Mrs Miriam Olusanya, Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd, said the honour reflected the values on which the bank was founded.

“This recognition is a testament to the legacy upon which GTBank was built and the vision that continues to guide us today,” she said. “From inception, our goal has been to deliver on the Group’s vision to make end to end financial services accessible to everyone by leveraging technology to remove barriers, simplify experiences and create meaningful value for our customers.”

Olusanya added that the bank viewed the award as encouragement rather than an endpoint.

“While we are honoured by this recognition, we see it as an acknowledgement of what we have achieved and a motivation to do even more,” she said. “We remain focused on raising the bar for digital banking, investing in innovative solutions, and delivering exceptional experiences that create lasting value for our customers.”

The win marks a shift in the category.

Nigeria’s Best Digital Bank title was held last year by Wema Bank, whose ALAT platform was recognised at the Euromoney Awards 2025 for its facial biometric security features and rapid growth in active digital users.

GTBank’s victory this year reclaims the honour and underlines the intensifying competition among Nigerian lenders for digital banking supremacy.

GTBank is no stranger to Euromoney recognition. The bank was named Africa’s Best Digital Bank in 2016, alongside Best Bank in Nigeria, and has picked up the country’s overall banking prize on multiple occasions over the past decade.

The award also arrives days after GTBank was named Best Overall Performing Bank in Nigeria in The Banker magazine’s Top 1000 World Banks Rankings 2026, where it topped the Efficiency and Soundness categories.

The bank described that recognition as a reflection of disciplined execution and consistent value creation for its stakeholders.

GTBank’s flagship GTWORLD mobile application remains central to its digital strategy, giving millions of customers seamless and secure access to banking services.

The bank said it would keep expanding its digital offerings while maintaining high standards of security and reliability.

The latest honour cements GTBank’s reputation as a trusted banking partner for millions of customers across Nigeria and reinforces its standing among Africa’s leading digital banking innovators.
