Fuel prices have fallen again across parts of Abuja, with MRS filling stations reducing the pump price of petrol to ₦1,210 per litre on Monday, August 10, 2026, as marketers respond to recent price reductions by Dangote Refinery.

A market survey by DAILY POST showed that MRS stations, backed by Dangote Refinery, cut their petrol price from ₦1,260 to ₦1,210 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas, representing a ₦50 reduction.

The latest development comes just days after Dangote Refinery announced a downward review of its petrol and Automotive Gas Oil prices, putting fresh pressure on petroleum marketers to adjust their pump prices.

Other filling stations have also joined the latest round of reductions.

AA Rano and other petrol stations along the Kubwa Expressway reduced their pump prices by about ₦25 per litre, selling petrol at around ₦1,275 per litre as of Monday.

The latest reductions add to a series of price cuts recorded at Nigerian filling stations in recent days, offering a welcome reprieve to motorists and other fuel consumers facing elevated transport and operating costs.

Eight days earlier, MRS and several other filling stations had reduced petrol prices by between ₦25 and ₦45 per litre following adjustments linked to Dangote Refinery’s pricing.

The continued downward movement has largely been driven by changes in the domestic fuel market, particularly the pricing decisions of Dangote Refinery, which has emerged as a major supplier to petroleum marketers since commencing large-scale fuel production.

For consumers, the latest cuts could provide some relief if the downward trend is sustained across more locations.

Lower pump prices could also ease transportation and logistics costs, although the impact will depend on how widely the reductions are adopted by marketers.

The price gap between filling stations also remains significant, reflecting differences in supply arrangements, operating costs and location.

With MRS now selling at ₦1,210 per litre in Abuja, motorists will be watching closely to see whether other major petroleum retailers follow with further reductions in the coming days.

The latest development marks another significant movement in Nigeria’s petrol market as competition among suppliers and retailers continues to shape pump prices following the expansion of domestic refining capacity.
