Fubara’s shock defection sparks PDP leadership crisis

Fubara Agba-Ndele Bridge Completion confirmed as Rivers governor plans May inauguration with adjoining 14km Ndele-Omofo-Agba-Ndele Road

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday confirmed the completion of the Agba-Ndele Bridge in Emohua Local Government Area and announced plans to inaugurate the project alongside the adjoining 14-kilometre Ndele-Omofo-Agba-Ndele Road in May 2026.

The confirmation of the Fubara Agba-Ndele Bridge Completion came during the governor’s inspection visit to the project site, which links communities in Emohua Local Government Area with neighbouring settlements in Abua/Odual Local Government Area.

Details of the inspection were contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, and made available to journalists.

Speaking during the visit, Fubara expressed satisfaction with the progress made since his last inspection of the project about a year ago, describing the completion of the bridge as a significant milestone.

“This bridge is called the Agba-Ndele Bridge. It connects the Abua section to the Emohua section,” the governor said.

“I am really happy that today you can see for yourself that the bridge is fully completed. But the beauty of this project will be better appreciated when the other 14 kilometres, the Ndele-Omofo-Agba-Ndele Road, is completed.

“That is when you will see the actual value of this road.”

The governor also praised the contracting firm, Setraco Nigeria Limited, for demonstrating strong professionalism and commitment to the project schedule.

“I want to commend the contractor, Setraco, for a good job. Considering the condition when we first visited here and what we have seen today, they have done well,” Fubara said.

“They were truly committed and have shown that they possess the professional expertise to deliver projects on schedule.”

Fubara disclosed that the contractors responsible for the road component had assured the government that the remaining work would be completed before the end of May.

“I have already spoken with the contractors, and they assured us that before the end of May, they will deliver it,” the governor said.

“For that reason, we are going to delay the inauguration of this bridge until that other section is completed.”

According to the governor, the infrastructure project reflects the administration’s determination to strengthen connectivity and improve economic activities across communities in the state.

“So far, I feel happy that we are doing our best to improve on what we met on the ground when we assumed office,” Fubara added.
