Femi Branch Slams Interviewer

Femi Branch criticises interviewer after viral Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde encounter at Lagos event sparks debate on media professionalism

Veteran Nigerian actor Femi Branch has publicly criticised a television interviewer following a viral incident involving fellow actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde during the Miss Nigeria Patrons and Board Dinner held in Lagos on Sunday, 22 March 2026.

The incident, which has sparked widespread debate across social media, showed Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde reacting sharply after being asked to introduce herself during a live interview segment at the high-profile event. The exchange quickly became a talking point, raising questions about media preparedness and professionalism.

Reacting via his Instagram page, Femi Branch described the interviewer’s approach as deeply unprofessional, expressing frustration over what he termed avoidable embarrassment at public events. The actor stated that such situations reflect poor preparation within sections of the media industry.

“This freaks me out every time,” he wrote, questioning the logic of interviewing a public figure without basic prior knowledge of their identity. His remarks added a powerful voice to the ongoing conversation triggered by the viral clip.

Femi Branch further advised media practitioners to conduct proper research before engaging guests at red carpet events, stressing that even minimal preparation could prevent awkward encounters and protect professional standards.

The viral moment involving Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde had already divided opinion online, with some defending the actress’s reaction while others questioned the interviewer’s approach and communication style.

Industry observers say the incident underscores a recurring challenge in entertainment journalism, where live coverage often exposes gaps in training, preparation, and execution during high-profile appearances.

The debate continues to gain traction, with both public figures and audiences weighing in on expectations for professionalism in celebrity interviews.
