Federal Medical Centre Ijebu Ode bill passed by Senate, sponsored by Gbenga Daniel, now sent to House of Representatives for final approval

The Nigerian Senate has passed the Bill for an Act to amend the Federal Medical Centres Act, 2022, to provide for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, and for related matters, 2024 (SB. 514), sponsored by Senator Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel, and forwarded it to the House of Representatives for concurrence on 26 February 2026.

The bill, SB. 514, aims to expand healthcare infrastructure in Ogun State by formally creating a Federal Medical Centre in Ijebu Ode, offering improved medical services and facilities for residents.

Senator Gbenga Daniel, who sponsored the bill, expressed commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of his constituents.

The development has been widely welcomed by stakeholders who describe the legislative milestone as a positive step for healthcare accessibility.

“This is going to be a very good development once the parliamentary procedure is concluded,” a local community leader said, praising Senator Daniel’s foresight and tenacity in actualising healthcare improvements for the people.

The bill will now proceed to the House of Representatives, where it awaits concurrence before becoming law.

Once enacted, the Federal Medical Centre in Ijebu Ode is expected to provide advanced medical care and create new employment opportunities in the region.
