Dr. George Nwaeke alleges that Governor Fubara ordered the 2023 Rivers Assembly bombing, but the governor denies the claim, urging Nigerians to ignore it

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has accused suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of orchestrating the bombing of the state House of Assembly complex in 2023.

According to Nwaeke, the attack was aimed at preventing Fubara’s impeachment by lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The shocking revelation was made during a press briefing on Friday, where Nwaeke alleged that he personally witnessed a financial transaction linked to the attack.

He claimed that a bag of money was handed over to a former Assembly leader, Edison Ehie, who later became Fubara’s Chief of Staff.

“The money was given to Ehie to carry out the attack on the Assembly Complex along Moscow Road, Port Harcourt,” Nwaeke stated.

However, Governor Fubara has dismissed the allegations, urging Nigerians to disregard them.

He described the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

The alleged bombing incident in 2023 caused chaos in Rivers State politics, intensifying the power struggle between Fubara and Wike’s political camp.

The situation further escalated into legislative conflicts and legal battles over the governorship.
