The Emmanuel Usman defilement arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who said the incident was reported by the victim on March 29.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly forcefully dragged the minor into his employer’s office along the Ijebu-Owo axis, where he committed the offence.

The statement added that the suspect also allegedly threatened the victim in an attempt to silence her.

DSP Jimoh described the swift response of operatives, noting that officers immediately launched an investigation following the report, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The police spokesperson said the suspect is currently in custody and has made statements to assist ongoing investigations by the Gender-Based Violence Unit.

He added that the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Owo, where she received medical care, while additional psychosocial support is being arranged to aid her recovery.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, directed that the case be handled with urgency and sensitivity to ensure justice is delivered.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling sexual and gender-based violence, warning that offenders will be prosecuted according to the law.
