The shocking announcement has plunged the traditional institution and the wider northern geopolitical zone into intense mourning as subjects process the end of a historic era.

The catastrophic news that the Emir of Gumel dies at 84 marks the conclusion of a monumental 45-year reign on the historic throne of his ancestors.

Born on 12th December 1942, the prominent leader was widely celebrated as the longest-serving royal father in the region, having successfully navigated decades of complex social and political transitions.

Palace authorities indicated that formal Islamic funeral arrangements and international repatriation logistics would be communicated to the general public in due course.

Before ascending the throne on 16th December 1980 to succeed his late father, the brilliant technocrat built an exemplary public service record within the old Kano State administration.

He notably served as the Honorable Commissioner for Information, Internal Affairs, and Culture between 1978 and 1980.

Secondary highlights from his early administrative career include his pioneering role in establishing the Triumph Newspaper and the CTV67 television station, which eventually evolved into the present-day Abubakar Rimi Television.

The highly respected ruler also utilized his media expertise to supervise the strategic modernization and expansion of Radio Kano.

Following the news of his demise, neighboring leaders and executive officials immediately sent official messages of comfort to the bereaved royal family.

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, formally expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the late monarch as a true pillar of unity, cross-border diplomacy, and structural development.

State executives across the country praised the unique legacy of institutional guidance left behind by the deceased intellectual.
