The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of Mrs Peace Chinyereugo, the wife of the pastor at God’s Vineyard of Grace Dominion Assembly, Rev. Dr Samuel Chinyereugo.
The incident occurred on August 14, 2023 in Edo State, when gunmen suspected to be assassins attacked the pastor in front of the church.
According to reports, Pastor Samuel and his assistant also sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. Eyewitnesses revealed that the gunmen followed the pastor and his wife to the church, before opening fire on them.
The assailants had apparently been tailing the clergyman from the GRA area of the city, where he had visited a friend. As they approached the church, the attackers overtook the pastor’s vehicle and blocked his car.
Three armed men emerged from the car and began shooting at the pastor, his wife, and his assistant. The trio was quickly rushed to the hospital, but tragically, Mrs Chinyereugo was later pronounced dead by doctors.
The Edo State Police Command is currently investigating the incident, with hopes of bringing the perpetrators to justice. The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.
