The elegant ambience of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Victoria Island came alive on Thursday, June 11, 2026, as family members, friends, professional colleagues and well-wishers gathered to celebrate Dr. Ime Edwin Okon on the occasion of her 50th birthday.
The colourful evening celebration, which commenced shortly before 7 p.m., was a fitting tribute to a woman whose contributions to healthcare and public service have earned her admiration across Lagos State and beyond.
Guests arrived in stylish attire and were treated to an atmosphere brimming with warmth, laughter and camaraderie. The venue was tastefully decorated, while music, sumptuous meals and heartfelt conversations created a memorable experience for all in attendance.
It is a double celebration indeed for the celebrant; a former Medical Director of Ibeju Lekki General Hospital, who just only resumed at her new duty post as the Medical Director of Apapa General Hospital this month.
Dr. Okon was showered with glowing tributes as guests recounted her dedication to medicine, her leadership qualities and her unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
Dr. Okon is also a president of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos State chapter, where she has consistently championed initiatives aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality. Those who spoke at the event described her as a compassionate leader whose impact extends beyond the hospital walls to the broader society.
The celebration was marked by moments of joy and reflection as family members shared fond memories of the celebrant, while friends and colleagues highlighted her professional achievements and personal virtues.
As the evening progressed, guests danced, dined and toasted to Dr. Okon’s remarkable journey over the past five decades, wishing her many more years of good health, fulfilment and continued service to humanity.
For many in attendance, the golden jubilee celebration was not only a birthday party but also a celebration of a life dedicated to healing, leadership and making a difference in the lives of others.
