Davido reveals how a Lagos club experience with top artists inspired his decision to pursue a music career in Afrobeats
Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has shared the defining moment that inspired him to pursue music professionally, recalling a powerful experience during a night out in Lagos.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Davido said the turning point happened while he was in Nigeria for Christmas and visited Club Rehab in Lagos.
He explained that the atmosphere in the club changed instantly when popular artistes such as P-Square, Wizkid and Wande Coal arrived.
According to him, the reaction from fans, especially the excitement from female clubgoers, made a lasting impression on him and influenced his decision to take music seriously.
The Afrobeats star noted that witnessing the overwhelming reception for the performers made him realise the power and impact of music in real time.
“I remember I was in Nigeria for Christmas and I went to the club. When P Square, Wizkid and Wande Coal walked in, all the girls went crazy for them. That’s how I made up my mind to do music. I wanted it,” he said.

Over the years, Davido has grown into one of Africa’s most successful music exports, gaining global recognition and delivering multiple chart-topping hits in the Afrobeats scene.
