With an impressive 3.25 million subscribers on YouTube, Channels left competitors like TVC News (1.17 million) and Arise News (890,000) trailing behind.

Government-owned NTA garnered only 255,000 subscribers, while other media outlets like TheGuardian (210,000) and ThePunch (60,000) also reported lower figures.

On X (formerly Twitter), Channels TV once again led with over 7.09 million followers, followed by ThePunch at 6.79 million and Vanguard with 4.81 million.

Other top contenders include TheGuardian (2.81 million), Premium Times (2.15 million), and NTA (1.7 million). AIT, Arise News, and TVC News lagged significantly behind, while Silverbird recorded the fewest subscribers at 152,404.

On Instagram, Channels TV maintained its dominance with 1.64 million subscribers, followed by ThePunch with 1.21 million. Arise News, Vanguard, and TheGuardian all posted respectable figures in the range of 462,000 to 472,000, while TVC News recorded 414,317.

At the lower end, NTA and Silverbird garnered 246,448 and 112,962 subscribers respectively, with AIT trailing at 85,244.

Interestingly, Facebook statistics flipped the script slightly, with ThePunch taking the lead with 4.52 million subscribers, narrowly ahead of Channels TV at 4.51 million.

Vanguard followed closely with 4.20 million, while Premium Times, AIT, and TheGuardian posted followings of over 1 million each.

Offline, Channels TV also performed strongly.

A Statista report for 2023 revealed that Channels TV reached 48% of Nigerians aged 18-50 on a weekly basis, surpassing global giants like BBC News, CNN, and Al Jazeera.

In addition to its impressive reach, Channels TV was ranked as Nigeria’s most trusted news source, scoring 88% on Reuters and 85% on Statista.

These numbers reflect the growing influence and trust Channels TV has built among Nigerian audiences, reinforcing its position as the leader in both digital and offline channels.
