Blaqbonez breaks silence on bitter Odumodublvck feud

The Nigerian rapper says an overlapping relationship with a woman triggered the bitter dispute, which later escalated from rap rivalry into serious public allegations and legal action.

Blaqbonez breaks silence on bitter Odumodublvck feud

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has revealed that an overlapping relationship involving himself, fellow rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, known professionally as Odumodublvck, and a woman was at the heart of their bitter feud.

Blaqbonez made the disclosure during an interview with media personality Rufai Oseni, saying he did not initially know that the woman he was seeing was also involved with Odumodublvck.

The revelation offers a new explanation for a rivalry that has moved far beyond music and developed into one of the most contentious disputes in Nigeria’s contemporary hip-hop scene.

“Odumodu and I were with a girl at the same time but I didn’t know she was with him too around the same time we met,” Blaqbonez said.

According to Blaqbonez, he became aware of the situation only after the woman allegedly contacted his manager and threatened to damage his career.

Blaqbonez said Odumodublvck subsequently confronted him by telephone, accusing him of disturbing the woman he regarded as his partner.

Blaqbonez said he rejected the accusation, explaining that he had previously been intimate with the woman but had contacted her only after receiving what he considered a strange message.

“She called my manager that she’s going to destroy my career,” Blaqbonez said, recounting the events.

He said he subsequently blocked the woman and attempted to distance himself from the situation. Blaqbonez added that he later discovered Odumodublvck was the other man involved and decided to have no further contact with her.

The rapper said Odumodublvck later sent him a message asking when he had last had intercourse with the woman.

Blaqbonez said he deliberately avoided answering because he did not want to become further entangled in the pair’s private dispute.

According to Blaqbonez, his refusal to provide the information contributed to the breakdown of his relationship with Odumodublvck.

He said Odumodublvck subsequently told him that they were enemies because he would not answer the question.

Blaqbonez described his own relationship with the woman as a “friends with benefits” arrangement rather than a formal romantic relationship.

“I can’t say she’s my girlfriend because we didn’t make it official. I called my relationship with her a friend with benefits because we were friends and we were intimate,” he said.

The disclosure provides context to a feud that had previously appeared, at least publicly, to be rooted primarily in competition and artistic differences.

The rappers had once collaborated, including on songs such as “Tesla Boy”, “Dollars in the Bank” and “Technician”, before their relationship deteriorated.

By 2025, their exchanges had increasingly become public, with diss records and social media confrontations replacing their earlier collaboration.

The dispute intensified in June 2025 after Blaqbonez and A-Q released “Who’s Really Rapping”, a track widely interpreted as containing shots at Odumodublvck. Odumodublvck responded publicly and insisted that the conflict was not simply a matter of music.

In one of the clearest indications of how deeply the relationship had fractured, Odumodublvck wrote in 2025 that the dispute was “not rap beef”, signalling that the animosity had become personal.

The conflict later took a much more serious turn.

In June 2026, Odumodublvck publicly accused Blaqbonez of sexual abuse and alleged that members of the music industry were shielding him. The allegations were not established in court, and Blaqbonez denied wrongdoing.

Blaqbonez subsequently described the accusations as an attempt to harass and intimidate him, saying a private matter had been drawn into a wider professional rivalry. He said his legal team was taking steps to protect his reputation.

The dispute then entered the legal arena. In July, Blaqbonez filed a lawsuit seeking ₦2.55 billion in damages over Odumodublvck’s public allegations.

The claim reportedly included ₦2 billion in general damages, ₦500 million in aggravated damages and ₦50 million in legal costs. Odumodublvck rejected the claims and maintained his position.

The legal dispute has made it particularly important to distinguish allegations from established facts.

The sexual-abuse allegations remain unproven in court, while Blaqbonez has denied them.

Blaqbonez’s latest account does not settle those allegations, but it sheds new light on how a private relationship may have helped ignite the personal tensions that later became intertwined with their public musical rivalry.

For a feud that once played out through diss tracks and social-media exchanges, the latest revelation suggests that the story between the two rappers has always contained a more complicated personal dimension than their music alone revealed.
