Phyna, Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, disowns her family and drops her surname, Otabor, revealing struggles and lack of support from her relatives.

[dropcap]J[/dropcap]osephine Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has made a shocking revelation by publicly disowning her family.

The Edo-born reality star took to her verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday night to announce her decision to drop her surname, Otabor, citing her ongoing struggles and lack of support from her family.

In a heartfelt message, Phyna expressed that she has faced difficult times recently, and lamented the absence of familial support throughout her life.

“I am publicly dropping my family surname Otabor… It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about…. I’m still searching for answers though,” she wrote.

The reality star went on to explain that her childhood experiences with relatives were challenging, and she felt discarded and neglected by those closest to her.

“Going up and the way I was tossed around by relatives I should have suspected, but guess I was too young… omo my head wan tear!!” she added, revealing the emotional toll of these experiences.

Phyna also reflected on how the absence of her family’s support has affected her life, especially since rising to fame.

The post is seen as an emotional outpouring, as the 26-year-old star disclosed how her journey has been marked by loneliness and confusion, though she continues to search for clarity about her past.

This announcement comes months after Phyna’s father, Mr. Otabor, publicly called her out in a national newspaper, accusing her of not assisting him and the rest of the family since her rise to stardom.
