Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake and Tems lead Nigerian nominations at BET Awards 2026 scheduled for June in Los Angeles
Nigerian Afrobeat and music stars, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake and Tems, have received multiple nominations for the 2026 BET Awards, highlighting another strong year for Nigerian music on the global stage.

The prestigious awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles. It will be hosted by American comedian Druski and broadcast live on BET, with millions of viewers expected worldwide.
The nomination list, unveiled on Tuesday, placed Nigerian artists across several competitive categories, reflecting the continued global influence of Afrobeats and R&B fusion sounds.
Wizkid and Asake earned a joint nomination in the Best Group category following their collaborative project and a series of chart-topping releases that dominated streaming platforms over the past year.
Tems emerged as one of the most nominated African artists this year, securing three nominations. She was recognised in Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, the BET Her Award for her track First, and the Viewers’ Choice Award for Raindance, her collaboration with Dave.
Burna Boy also secured a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for his feature on Gunna’s hit single WGFT, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most consistent global performers.
