The presentation took place on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in the presence of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the Permanent Secretary, Mr Oloko.
Prof Arigbagbu described Taiwo’s achievement as validation of the state government’s sustained investment in education and the transformative reforms introduced under the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda.
“When you do things consistently and efficiently, you will continue to record results. This same teacher won in October and has now emerged as the overall best teacher in Nigeria,” he said.

The Commissioner explained that the declaration of a state of emergency in education paved the way for broad reforms focusing on curriculum development, school management, technology and innovation, infrastructure, funding, and student and teacher welfare.
“On each of these pillars, we have delivered effectively. That is why I am not surprised that our teachers and students continue to win awards at various levels,” Prof Arigbagbu added.
He highlighted the state’s dominance in national competitions, including JETS, where Ogun students won 18 of 24 awards in one year.
Taiwo, who clinched the national title in Abuja, expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for fostering a conducive teaching and learning environment.
“I feel excited and fulfilled. I want to appreciate our education-friendly governor for this great honour—for celebrating excellence, innovation and transformational impact among teachers across the state,” he said.
Governor Abiodun said the car reward aims to motivate other teachers to give their best.
He assured that the state will continue to train and retrain educators through workshops, digitisation initiatives, and AI-powered teaching platforms, reinforcing Ogun State’s reputation for educational excellence.

“I promise to continue to give my best to make the state proud and collaborate with fellow educators to ensure Ogun State maintains its reputation for educational excellence,” Taiwo added, urging teachers to remain committed to transforming learning outcomes and developing every learner’s potential.
