Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena has been confirmed as the sole candidate to host the 2028 UEFA Champions League final, according to an announcement by UEFA on Friday.

The German city, which previously hosted the elite European club final in 2012 and 2025, emerged as the only bidder for the 2028 edition.
The stadium’s modern facilities and strong track record in hosting major football events are believed to have influenced the decision.
Munich also holds a rich history with the competition, having hosted the final in 1979, 1993, and 1997 at the old Olympic Stadium, before its transition to the Allianz Arena for the 21st-century editions.
This season’s final will take place at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, while the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid has been selected to host in 2027.
UEFA also confirmed that Wembley Stadium in London and the renovated Camp Nou in Barcelona are competing to stage the 2029 Champions League final, with a final decision expected in September 2026.
The Allianz Arena, renowned for its architectural brilliance and atmosphere, last witnessed a Champions League final in 2025, when Paris Saint-Germain delivered a stunning 5-0 victory over Inter Milan.

With the 2028 final set to return to Munich, the city is once again poised to take centre stage in European football’s most prestigious night.
