APC Kwara governorship primary election transparency assured as committee pledges free, fair and credible voting across all 16 local governments

The All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Congress Kwara State Governorship Primary Election Committee has assured party members of a transparent and credible primary election scheduled to hold on Friday across the state.

The assurance was given by the committee chairman, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who stated that preparations had been concluded to ensure a free, fair and orderly process in line with directives from the party’s national leadership.

Transparency in APC Kwara governorship primary election commitment includes the distribution of voting materials before Jumat prayers, with voting expected to commence simultaneously across all 16 local government areas after the prayers.

Senator Obanikoro explained that the committee had engaged all governorship aspirants at the state secretariat in Ilorin, where electoral procedures were fully explained and concerns addressed to promote inclusiveness and confidence in the process.

He noted that while efforts had been made to encourage consensus among aspirants, the committee remained fully prepared to conduct a competitive and credible election where agreement was not reached.

According to him, designated local government election officers have been deployed across the state to oversee the receipt of materials and coordination of the voting exercise.

The chairman reiterated that only the committee is authorised to conduct, conclude and submit the results of the primary election, stressing that all arrangements had been made to ensure compliance with party guidelines.

He urged stakeholders and aspirants to maintain peace and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the exercise, emphasising the importance of unity within the party.
